You will board a smart green vintage double-decker bus and begin your tour of London’s most famous sights. You will see Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye, and make a photo-stop at Westminster Abbey. The Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066 and is the final resting place of 17 monarchs. The present church, begun by Henry III in 1245, is one of the most important Gothic buildings in the country.
You will also see St. Paul's Cathedral, one of the most spectacular of London's landmarks, dating back to 1675. The funerals of Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington and Sir Winston Churchill all took place here, and it was also here that Lady Diana married Prince Charles.
Next, you head for the Tower of London, built by William the Conqueror nearly 1000 years ago. Designed to subjugate and terrify Londoners while deterring foreign invaders, it remains a formidable place. Used both as a palace and as a prison, today it is home to the Crown Jewels and the famous Beefeaters who protect them. The tour will stop for photos before heading to Tower Pier.
At Tower Pier, you board a boat for a leisurely cruise on the River Thames. You will see fabulous views of Cleopatra's Needle, Shakespeare's Globe and London Bridge before disembarking at Westminster Pier, where you get back on the bus and head to Buckingham Palace. On the Morning Tour you can watch the Changing of the Guard at the Palace. On days when the Changing of the Guard ceremony is not happening, you will stop to take photos of the Horse Guards Parade. On the Afternoon Tour you can see the Inspection of The Queen’s Household Cavalry.
Your final stop is at Harrods, the world-famous department store in Knightsbridge in the heart of London. The tour ends here, leaving you time to shop and explore. Many people choose to enjoy a delicious lunch or take afternoon tea in the fabulous Georgian restaurant located on the fourth floor of the store (payable direct).
The Morning Tour ends at around 1130h (11:30am) and the Afternoon Tour ends at around 1630h (4:30pm).
